This is a filmed lecture by Dr. James Dobson, popular Christian author of "Dare to Discipline", "The Strong-Willed Child", and "Love Must Be Tough", among others. Part of the 'Focus on the Family' series, the lecture begins in progress with Dr. Dobson having just finished talking about adolescent low self-esteem and moving on to the areas of conformity, the meaning of love, the strain between generations, the search for identity, and puberty. For the most part, Dobson's remarks are thoughtful (although there is an occasional sexist remark, and an overall feeling of religious circuit showmanship seeps through). Too, some items are seemingly passed over, while others are given extensive discussion. But the real plus of the program is Dobson's sincere attention to the subject of masturbation. Recognizing that guilt over masturbation has caused extreme stress on both adolescents and parents in Christian families, he frankly discusses ways in which the situation can be approached in a humane and Christian light. Although the price is a little steep, there is very little else on the market in this subject area. Recommended.
