A very low-budget video featuring credit expert Jerry Jewell standing behind a lectern talking to an audience that's never shown, How to Repair Your Credit is, nevertheless, the only tape we've heard of on this subject. And the information could really help people who have gotten into a credit jam. Jewell dispels a handful of myths while offering advice on what to do about inquiries, late payments, collections, charge offs, repossessions, student loans, judgments, tax liens, foreclosures, and bankruptcy. While some of the tips sound very good, others sound borderline dishonest. Jewell continually counsels honesty, but also repeats many times that challenges to credit reports often go unanswered within the 30-day-period required by law for an answer, and are therefore successful in a roundabout way (since the challenged item has to be removed from a person's credit record). Not entirely on the q.t., but not entirely down and dirty either, we are reluctant to recommend this low-budget tape even though there's nothing better available at this time. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
