Just as growing up is inevitable, so is the challenge for health educators to find appropriate and current material for sex education. The latest edition of this video provides a factual yet creative introduction to the biology of growth and reproduction and the issues which accompany adolescence. The format works well--a wide variety of junior high kids present their opinions and questions, followed by a narrator explaining concepts over graphics. Vocabulary is introduced in context, and because much of the information presented is by their peers, kids will probably find this video appealing. The interviews are shot and edited skillfully, and the program moves smoothly from topic to topic, especially from physical development to emotional issues. The exception is the abrupt ending, in which a few kids ask some difficult questions which are not addressed. Other than the odd close, this is a great resource as both an introduction and discussion starter. Recommended. Aud: I, J. (E. Gieschen)
