Possibly one of the most frequently and widely violated federal laws is the one that clearly states that no one under the age of 21 can consume, purchase, or possess alcohol. Underage drinking is a common and growing problem. This three-tape program presents the legal, physiological, and physical consequences of alcohol consumption, especially as it relates to teenagers. Each part features professional advice and testimonials from teenagers whose lives were forever changed by drinking. The series is fairly comprehensive, discussing effects that an arrest or citation can have on the future, showing the dramatic and swift effect of alcohol on simple motor skills and behavior, and demonstrating the body's destruction by alcohol poisoning. In this respect, this is a useful resource for basic anti-alcohol education for not only students, but also teachers or others who work with youth. Unfortunately, shots are poorly lit and badly staged, the framing is odd-heads get chopped at the top-and the sound quality is weak. Too, the interviews sound preachy at times, the talking heads-whose testimonials are blatantly read from a script-lose interest quickly, and there's a certain sloppiness to the program with unnecessary spelling errors. A good concept that could've been better executed. Optional. Aud: J, H, P. (E. Gieschen)
