Presenting the various ways in which criminals can dupe individuals and companies out of thousands of dollars by stealing their financial identities, Identity Theft assures viewers that most instances can be prevented by using common-sense precautions, since the methods con artists use tend to be very simple and effective: "dumpster diving" to retrieve personal information from trash (credit card numbers, etc.), taking mail from mail boxes, or tapping an inside person for sensitive material about a company. Driving home the point that identity theft can happen to anyone, the program looks at three scenarios in which unsuspecting individuals or companies are targeted by con artists. Despite the somewhat hysterical tone of the presentation, Identify Theft--which comes with a "Productivity Pack" including an instructor's guide, handouts, questions for discussion, and publicity materials--would be very useful for small businesses, neighborhood watch groups, and general viewers. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
