Aimed at perspective flying students, this informative tape gives people an overview of what to expect. Neither instruction, nor a sales job for flying lessons, this program is hosted by an elderly gentleman, who follows Bill, a trainee, through all the major steps of flight instruction. We watch Bill take his first solo, practice stalls, embark on a cross-country flight, and work on takeoffs and landings. Throughout, viewers are given a realistic assessment of the time and work involved in getting a Private Pilot License. Age requirements, expenses, a tour of the airport, and simulated oral exams give viewers a reasonable idea of what such a major commitment entails. In addition to the excellent airborne photography which give the audience a "you are there" feeling, the program also includes career information in the flying business. Recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
