Almost everything you ever wanted to know about using the Internet* (*but didn't know who to ask or where to look) is likely contained in this rapid-fire--and occasionally humorous--60 minute introduction from Cerebellum's Standard Deviants series. The producers wisely teach concepts in subject areas that are moving targets (like specific web browser functions) and nuts-n-bolts how-to in more static subjects, such as the basics of privacy and security. Especially good is the explanation of the differences between national Internet Service Providers such as AOL or CompuServe and local ISPs, which will help with one of the most trying decisions for new Internet users. Featuring multiple hosts, set locations, and dynamic animated and overlaid backgrounds, the program is obviously designed to connect with a young crowd, and at times, the script sometimes borders on slacker-speak (lots of "whatevers" and "stuff"). Nevertheless, the information is rock solid, providing good answers to a multitude of questions about the Internet. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: H, C, P. (C. Block)
