Media 100i is a professional computer-based video editing system that runs on the Macintosh platform. Chances are most professional video content you watch (including pre-recorded and broadcast television) was edited with either a Media 100i, or its primary competitor, Avid. This production starts with a fresh installation of the program and goes through nearly every basic step of the process from setting the quality of the digitization process (which is the process of taking analog video and converting it to the video realm) to the final cut. While these non-linear editors are pricey (and in the world of video editing, time is money), an instructional program such as this, even at $150, is a wise investment for anyone using the Media 100i system, including those already somewhat familiar with non-linear video editors. Putting together a professional production is a painstaking process (as I discovered when building an entry-level Avid system for my library; if I'd had a video like this to begin with, my hair might be a little less gray). Recommended for larger collections and academic environments where non-linear editing on the Media 100i system is taught. Also newly available at the same price: Softimage XSI Mastering Lighting and Softimage XSI Mastering Rendering. Aud: C, P. (C. Block)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
