It's Eco-Logic

Severn Cullis-Suzuki, the youngest winner of the Global 500 Environment Award, hosts this short video filled with practical ideas for kids to make a difference in protecting and preserving the environment. The format is a bit hokey--12-year-old Michael (played by an actor who has a hard time injecting any emotion or convincing realism into his lines) has to come up with ideas to save the earth, as a homework assignment. He flips on his computer and is put in contact with Severn, who takes him through a series of "Eco-Logic" suggestions which are environmentally healthy. Some are familiar: use canvas bags for groceries, recycle, clean up after yourself, etc. Others are more creative: trade old books, CDs, toys, etc. instead of buying new ones, plant a small garden in your schoolyard, or have a litterless lunch contest. Although the content of the video is solid, the production is nothing spectacular, and the study guide gives pretty much the same information. For the price, this is an optional purchase.
