Suicide is the third leading cause of death amongst 15-24-year-olds, a sad statistic that isn't helped by myths that not only prevent potentially suicidal teens from escaping the fog of lethal depression, but also hinder friends from being able to provide aid and hope. It's Never Too Late: Stopping Teen Suicide is a straightforward program that debunks false notions, such as “someone who plans suicide can't be talked out of it,” or “people who talk about suicide usually don't do it.” A teenage host introduces each segment, which include interviews with psychologists and young people offering stories that expand on various topics. Strategies for recognizing warning signs are offered, as well as a practical three-step approach for dealing with a suicidal friend (with the realistic caveat that while it may be the viewer's responsibility to offer help to friends, it's not their responsibility to ultimately save them), while professional counseling is singled out as a powerful tool to combat the isolation and depression that can lead to suicide. Although high stress and chemical imbalances are not discussed in the video, they are extensively covered in the accompanying material. A good discussion-starter, this is recommended. Aud: J, H. (E.
