Meet “The Mighty Nine”—including Chancellor Miller, Alyson Stoner (of Cheaper by the Dozen movies and Missy Elliott video fame), and Bobb'e J. Thompson (The Tracy Morgan Show)—a dynamic group of acting and singing hip-hop dancers aged 10-17. Following an introduction by American Idol's Randy Jackson, the “fully-licensed” superhero-style dance squad JammX Kids arrive from coast to coast—courtesy of their Power Rangers-style transporter bracelets—at big boss Master Groove's (Thompson) “ethereal world” for their mission: to track down and aid Josh (Miller), a clumsy, bullied KIT (kid in trouble) who wants to impress a classmate at a school dance. The JammX Kids ultimately coax the reluctant teen into learning the Grapevine Groove, Stomp Out, Scare Crow, Twist Hop, Monestary, and Chest Pop, as they sing ditties, STOMPishly make their own music (with Josh's household items), and dance along. Predictably finishing up with a school dance showdown, this simple story built around teaching mostly straightforward dance steps should appeal to the ‘tween target audience. DVD extras include a behind-the-scenes featurette, dance battles, and a hilarious segment featuring NBA star Shaquille O'Neal (who dances pretty much like he shoots free-throws). Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
