Pregnancy is bad for posture and balance, and definitely places limits on your pogo dancing…but this workout can help keep pregnant women in shape for all of life's ups and downs (in and out of the mosh pit). Pilates instructor Jennifer Gianni guides viewers through floor exercises, wall workouts, yoga poses, and torso stretches, among other routines, while following the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology guidelines, for a challenging fitness program that doesn't compromise on safety. Gianni and two models perform moves that are appropriate for each trimester, with variations including more strenuous stretches for the first and second trimesters, and modified moves for the third. While there are roughly 25 exercises in all, this is not an aerobic workout, as Gianni's focus is on stretching and strengthening muscles (such as conditioning the pelvic floor--which will get a hellacious workout blast very soon anyway--using Kegel exercises). Nicely staged and well-produced, viewers of all fitness levels should find this program inspiring and beneficial. Recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
