Joseph Pilates, a German boxer born in 1880, would be jumping for joy if he knew the A-list of hottie devotees enjoying his exercise regimen today. Celebs such as Madonna, Uma Thurman, Sharon Stone, and Halle Berry are following the training secrets of a wimpy kid who developed a body-toning and sculpting technique because he was obsessed with the perfect body. Sound familiar? No wonder he's popular today. Jennifer Kries, professional dancer, author, and A-list hottie in the workout world has taken Joesph's system and refined it for today's busy lifestyle. Precision Pilates combines three separate 20 minute workouts on one tape--upper body, lower body and a yoga based flexibility segment. These routines aren't about pain, sweat and tears; instead, Kries concentrates on developing the ‘core' (a strong abdomen), and through deep stretching exercises strives to increase the range of motion and flexibility, always pushing to the point of challenge, not pain. Somewhat suspiciously, the tape ends rather abruptly with a "2001" tacked-on, after credits that don't completely jibe with the program content (the credits list a cast of five participants, but only three bodies were ever on screen), and the color looked a bit washed out (unusual for new tapes). Still, the program content is easily recommended. Other titles in the Pilates Method series are: 3 Dimensional Toning and Perfect Mix. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
