Not nearly as childish and weird as the original Jodi Stolove's Chair Dancing (VL-10/92), in which grown adults performed chair-bound semi-aerobic routines while being instructed to, among other things, pretend they were airplanes, Jodi Stolove's Chair Dancing Through the Decades presents a seated aerobics workout at three fitness levels for all ages and shapes, cued to music-backed invitations to perform moves related to various dances and eras (the Charleston, rock 'n roll, the Twist, and disco). I especially liked the Saturday Night Fever homage, in which the seated participants shot their arms into the air with index fingers extended in Travolta-esque fashion. Bookended by warm-up and cool-down segments, with regular admonitions to check pulses, this program will appeal to people with temporary or permanent limited mobility. Recommended. [Note: also newly available in Jodi Stolove's Chair Dancing series, at the same price, are More…Sit Down & Tone Up and Chair Yoga.] Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
