Puberty can be a pretty scary time, especially since one literally becomes another person. But knowing a) what to expect, b) that it's all normal, and c) that it happens to everyone, will go a long way toward assuaging fears, and this video offers a reassuring and factual preview for young girls who might be nervous or just uninformed about what will happen during puberty. The narrator, an articulate and engaging "big sister," guides viewers through both physical and emotional developments, illustrating body changes and the menstrual cycle, while also discussing mood swings and fatigue. Debunking "late-bloomer" fears, the program also reminds viewers that each person is unique, with her own individual timetable. A fine introductory video for human-growth or sex-ed instruction, this is recommended. Note: A companion volume, Just Around the Corner -- For Boys, is also available for the same price. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
