Crime prevention educator Kevin Perline and his young co-host Kristen share tips and advice for kids aged 5-10 on staying safe in a number of potentially dangerous situations. Topics include how to react if approached by a stranger, what to do when separated from a parent or guardian in a public place (such as a mall), being safety conscious around public restrooms or in a park, and handling bad situations (like bullies) at school. Dramatic re-enactments are shown again at the end of the video so that parents can discuss various strategies and plans with their children while talking over the questions included in the accompanying booklet. A good, general overview of safety for children and their parents. Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
