If my wood shop teacher was as much fun as "wacky" host Al Nowicki, I probably wouldn't have received a D+ on the plywood letter opener I made way back when. Nowicki is a tongue-in-cheek Bill Nye, who tries to convince us that "safety glasses are incredibly hip" and suggests pez dispensers as THE THING to collect, although he freely admits that the modern audience might like to build a collector's case for their model trains, or Pokémon or NBA cards, rather than follow his lead. Never mind that a collector's case isn't the most exciting thing in the world to build, or that the video is clearly low budget, this is a completely entertaining program that proves if you are a truly funny and intelligent personality, and have a sense of your audience's interest levels and how to amuse them, you can make anything worth watching. Genuinely clever for both kids and adults, I would also recommend that other "how-to" video producers watch this to see "how to" make a truly stimulating "how to" tape. Other titles scheduled to follow in this excellent series include videos on how to make a wooden bug box, treasure chest, hat rack, CD rack and more. Highly recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (R. Ray)
