Inhale. Sigh. Close your eyes. Chant. Simply watching this video provides a soothing experience. As explained by host Carolyn Lundeen (Sudha), the ancient practice of yoga attunes the participant to his or her inner body by releasing stress while increasing energy, focus, and "compassionate awareness." One male and two female demonstrators take viewers through two 30-minute (approximately) sessions of floor and standing postures. The dim lighting, soft music, and Sudha's lulling voice create a relaxing effect, and the exercises conclude with brief meditation and chanting. Onscreen information also links viewers to the website and catalog for Kripalu, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching yoga. A good, basic lesson for those seriously interested in a gentle introduction to yoga. A companion volume, Kripalu Yoga: Dynamic, is also available at the same price. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
