Kathy Blake and Gene Russo are the expert instructors for this introduction to jitterbug; one of several dance videos the team has done. Blake begins with tips for how viewers may best use the program, gives a brief background of the birth of the jitterbug during the Big Band era of the 1940's, and then gets down to steps. All of the basic dance steps of the jitterbug are demonstrated, and repeated, with Blake covering the women's part, Russo the men's, and, both instructors showing how it all comes together. Repetition, and careful step-by-step addition, make this a very successful program. Viewers learn one step, and then move on to the next learning block, in a cumulative progression. The program concludes with a short review, and reminder of do's and don'ts when dancing the jitterbug. It should be pointed out that only the basic steps of the jitterbug are shown here; not the many exuberant additions which made the dance a veritable explosion of motion in its heyday. (There is a Jitterbug II program that may contain these extras.) Other titles in the series include: Tango, Fox Trot, Tap Dance for Adults, Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Waltz, Polka, and several titles for children's dance. Highly recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
