This in-depth instructional video, produced and hosted by UK-based certified Pilates fitness instructor Lindsey Jackson, provides a warm-up and two Pilates routines for early, late, and post-pregnancy. Emphasizing proper positioning and posture for moves that are less strenuous than those found in a traditional Pilates workout, the relaxed tone and slow pace of the production is markedly different from many U.S. fitness videos--i.e., professional without being slick (no flattering lighting, very little makeup, and Jackson is quite pregnant, to boot) and dispensing with the mega-watt smiles and peppy enthusiasm that are the hallmarks of most American fitness instructors. Instead of entreating you to “squeeze those abs!,” for example, Jackson dryly suggests you "engage your pelvic floor and lower tummy muscles with 30% effort.” Not a timed workout, but rather a guide to specific Pilates techniques that relies on detailed explanations and isolated close-ups to help viewers master the positions, this is recommended.
