When my teenage daughter saw one of Jim Edson's hand-painted T-shirts on this video she said "cool." What she meant by that was: "what a nifty idea--carving simple to complex designs on linoleum blocks, inking the surface, pressing it on a T-shirt, and coloring the design elements with garment paints, thereby producing a one-of-a-kind wearable piece of art--I want one for Christmas." Edson talks about the relative ease in setting up a T-shirt business in the home, points out the necessary supplies (available from crafts shops), and takes viewers step-by-step through two projects (one a repeating pattern of chili peppers, made by using the same 4" by 5" block in two rows of three; and the other a larger single abstract picture of a couple under a radiant sun--the one my daughter wants). Although the production is rather low-budget, Edson is a good teacher who provides clear instruction and thumb-saving safety tips. In addition, the tape offers viewers a neat new craft that could also bring in some serious extra coin for the artistically-minded. Including some of mine. Highly recommended.
