These two programs in the Look Up series, an excellent beginning science series of 23 programs, share superb production values with lively information about their respective subjects. Using the framing device of a character named Robot (an actor dressed in decidedly weird headgarb) and a computer graphics companion named Imagination, It's Raining, It's Pouring asks where does rain come from, and takes young viewers through the processes of condensation and evaporation to give students a rudimentary understanding of the water cycle. In The Moon, Robot explodes some of the myths that Imagination has about the moon, and explains the moon's composition, phases, and general characteristics. Excellent animated graphics, interesting suggestions for science projects, and a good, sound introduction to the subject matter make both of these productions fine choices for elementary school library collections. The comparatively low price of the programs might also appeal to larger public libraries. (Available from: TVOntario, 143 W. Franklin St., Suite 206, Chapel Hill, NC 27514; 1-800-331-9566.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
