Designed by hypnotherapist Steve Murray, this behavior modification program helps viewers identify the physical and (sometimes subliminal) emotional feelings they have towards foods they love and hate. Through step-by-step on-camera instruction by Pat Matthews, viewers are shown how to replace the positive feelings they might have for certain foods (say, scarfing down a bag of potato chips daily), with the negative feelings they have towards others (say, Brussels sprouts). This process involves a self-relaxation phase, identifying a specific food to eliminate or reduce in your diet, and documenting your physical and mental response to same (ditto for a food you dislike). To help motivate viewers, the program uses charts and graphs to illustrate how incremental daily snacks can add inches to hips and guts over time. Although viewers' mileage is likely to vary, Lose Fat and Weight!—which includes an audio CD that provides direct guidance for the suggested daily five-minute session—could aid those unable to conquer their overindulgence of junk foods. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
