These latest entries from the Library Video Network walk library professionals through the steps of creating an effective marketing plan, and making the most of displays and promotional materials. Marketing Your Library explores how to identify target audiences, efficiently use focus groups, create mission statements, identify objectives, and assess and revise the plan. Using samples and ideas from various types of libraries, the program emphasizes that an effective marketing plan should cover all aspects of library services, not just programming events. Merchandising Strategies looks at the importance of promoting library services and collections. After creating a production team, libraries are encouraged to create a manual containing agreed-upon standards (in the areas of colors, fonts, “branding” symbols or logos, etc.). In addition, suggestions are offered for coordinating displays with library events, making displays more visually appealing, getting the most out of small spaces, and choosing the most favorable locations for displays. Designed to help achieve a professional, consistent public face for any library, these well-produced titles offer solid ideas and tips for libraries to mount successful self-promotion campaigns. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
