This is a good overview of the 1988 Medicare Catastrophic Law, and its projected effect on the nation's Medicare system over the coming years. Using some appealing graphics depicting swing music, the program explains how the new Catastrophic coverage will work together with parts A and B of the current Medicare package. Targeted toward senior citizens, the format is both easy-to-follow and comprehensive in it its explanation of the basics of the Medicare system (which, admittedly, can seem quite labyrinthine). In addition to the Medicare program, the video also discusses the so-called Medigap policies--those supplemental health insurance policies designed to fill the gaps in Medicare coverage. The video ends with an explanation of how the Catastrophic program will be implemented over the coming years. Sound information, simply presented, with the addition of public performance rights (this would be a good program to invite senior citizens who may not own VCRs in to the library to see), make this a good choice for public libraries. Recommended. (See EVERYTHING'S FINE for availability.)
