Microsoft Word 97 Explained: The Basics

There's something vaguely tautological (sorry about the 25-cent philosophy term) about writing a review of a Microsoft Word 97 tutorial in a review publication written in Microsoft Word 97. Spread across four videotapes, I took a gander at the second entry in this simple guide to Word 97--"Screen Layout and Documentation Creation"--which opened with loading Word 97 and selecting a printer (inexplicably shown twice), recited the toolbar buttons (and I do mean recite, not explain), opened a new document, keyed in a few sample sentences, and saved and printed the document. A summary recapped the first few exercises, but stopped abruptly. In short, this is a so-so instructional videotape on a popular subject, and you'd be crazy to fork over $289 for a 4-tape set, when you could pick up a more professional and thorough production for $39.95-$49.95 from either the Gartner Learning Group or Keystone Training Systems, among others.
