With its no-impact emphasis on muscle limbering, toning and breathing, yoga is the perfect exercise for those with a bun in the oven. This tape is distinct from similar titles (such as Classic Moves: Pre- & Postnatal Yoga [VL-4/90] or The Method: Baby & Mom Pre-Natal Yoga [VL-3/99]) in that the instructor, Bonnie Berk, is extraordinarily qualified. In addition to being an R.N. and a Certified Childbirth Education Specialist, Berk has a degree in community health education, and is a personal fitness trainer as well as a yoga instructor. In short, preggies can trust the expertise in this workout tape, which consists of seated warm-ups, more intensive full-body stretches, reminders about those all-important Kegel exercises, and a concluding relaxation session, all conforming with safety guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I particularly liked the fact that the pregnant women demonstrating the poses were wearing loose maternity t-shirts and knee-length pants (when I was PG, I used a yoga tape featuring very pregnant women in unitards--when you're not even showing yet, you don't want to think about being big as a whale!), more suitable attire that puts the emphasis on the exercise rather than the pregnancy. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
