Former Hollywood stuntman Danny McNeill, a.k.a. "Mr. Baby Proofer," who has baby-proofed the homes of celebrities such as Sally Fields and Entertainment Tonight's Leeza Gibbons, is the host for this half-hour commercial for products sold by the "Mr. Baby Proofer" company. Adopting that curious mock urgency ("let's get going") which seems to suggest some danger--although there's only Mr. Baby Proofer on screen--McNeill goes from room to room picking out some rather off-the-beaten track dangers: for the bar, use a cabinet door lock clasp so that baby doesn't get into the booze; in addition to using the clasp, make sure no booze is actually stored in the bar...keep it stored up high somewhere (same with the under-the-kitchen-sink cabinet: lock that sucker up and make sure there's nothing inside). In the living room, viewers will want to use cord guards for the legion of babies who chew through electrical cords; and the kitchen is so dangerous, babies should avoid it completely. Portable fences assure that the baby will not "fall into the dog's water dish and drown." Following the breathless run-through, the program shows all of the products featured (and some additional ones) which are available from "Mr. Baby Proofer." In other words, if viewers want to cough up a lot of bucks for things like toilet locks and elephant-head water spout covers, then here's the opportunity. While safety is a serious subject, this opportunistic little tape takes the subject a bit far and roto-rooters ye olde pocketbook in the process. Not recommended.
