Mr. Henry (played by Christian novelist Frank Peretti) is a crazy inventor and teacher who lives in a house full of wacky gadgets that include a talking fish, robot, and moose head. In Jesus Died for Me?, the seventh entry in the Mr. Henry's Wild & Wacky World series, Mr. Henry (think: a religious cross between Pee-Wee Herman and Red Green) suffers a series of mishaps and setbacks while trying to bake his sweetheart a birthday cake, before receiving a special gift from a friend that allows him to make the cake without burning it. Interspersed with animation of Jesus in Jerusalem and live action reenactments of the parables of the Lost Coin and Lost Sheep, the program also includes games, puzzles, and a review of the concepts taught. By film's end, viewers come to recognize the "special gift" they have received through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, humankind's savior. Geared for younger viewers, this entertaining approach to gospel instruction is recommended. Other titles in the series include: Why Should I?, But What Can I Do? and Talk to God! He Listens. [Note: this particular program is sold as a two-pack, with the encouragement to pass the extra copy on to a friend.] Aud: K, I, P. (L. Stevens)
