Miguel and Kelly, two third graders, are spending the afternoon at Ms. Infinity's math mansion, where they learn lessons in seven rooms, each one representing a strand of mathematics. Their guide, Cal, is a Robin Williams-type goof who makes a lot of bad jokes but gets them started on exercises in problem solving, computation, patterns, data collection, geometry, numeration, and measurement. It's a great concept, and marginally well executed, but the video suffers overall from a slow storyline and cheesy acting, as well as an accompanying curriculum that offers nothing new. If viewed in seven segments, this would probably go over better in a class of easily distracted 8-year-olds, but it remains an optional purchase. Aud: E. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
