Pilates instructor Kristin McGee is the host for MTV's newest workout program, Pilates Mix, comprised of two half-hour workout sessions focusing on arms and abs, and legs and abs, respectively. Although the actual Pilates method is almost unrecognizable as presented here, viewers will nevertheless enjoy a fairly energetic routine centered on muscle toning, strength building, and flexibility. While onscreen workout buddies behind McGee illustrate options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced workouts, the position of all the mats--in a flower petal configuration--allows for a variety of camera angles within the frame, making the instruction easy to follow and more interesting to watch. True to its MTV origins, the workout combines choppy quick edits and a driving music mix that won't disappoint the teen-to-twentysomething intended audience. DVD extras include a feature that allows viewers to customize their own workout, as well as a 12-minute bonus session, and options for instructor-only or music-only audio tracks. Recommended. Aud: P.
