Aimed at the trendy teen to thirtysomething audience, this program “hosted” (although she doesn't do much talking) by Lori Trespicio of The Real World: Back to New York and choreographed by Kristin McGee offers up yoga instruction, MTV-style. Filmed at New York City's Man Ray restaurant, McGee teaches as Trespicio and two other yogis provide beginner, advanced and intermediate versions. While the location is visually spiffy, the pillars sometimes make it difficult to see the demonstrators as they go through movements that include warrior, tree, pigeon, baby cobra, and boat poses. Sporting a pulsating soundtrack by masterful musician BT, this "spiced up” program includes the usual warm-up, stretches, standing postures, backwards and forward bends, final relaxation, and at the end, a detailed breakdown of some of the moves. The main difference with MTV Yoga, as near as I could tell, was in the choice of featured silent sponsor--in this case, numerous strategically-placed Nike symbols. DVD extras include text and picture demonstrations of nine positions, an alternate audio-only instructor track, and brief text bios of McGee and Trespicio. Given the MTV brand, this is likely to be the yoga instruction program of choice for the target audience, and is therefore recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams)
