One of five titles in the Natural Disaster or Natural Phenomena? series, Tsunamis is a particularly timely program, coming in the wake of 2004's devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. Exploring the differences between normal waves and the enormous waves produced by tsunamis, this program incorporates NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) maps, archival and on-location footage, and computer graphics, concluding with a review quiz. At best, however, this is a basic introduction that offers a brief overview of the phenomenon, and is also hampered by lackluster visuals and a teen host who has problems reading her cue cards. The other titles in the series are: Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Volcanoes. Optional. Aud: I, J, H. (E. Gieschen)
