Once again the intrepid botanist Jim Meuninck ventures into the wild (this time, including the Far East) to track down those things which are good for us but don't necessarily carry the AMA Seal of Good Bodykeeping. With more and more people becoming disheartened with traditional medical approaches and deciding to take a more active role in their personal health, books and videos on the subject of natural medicine and homeopathy are no longer just found in the corner of the local health food store. Of course, worldwide, 75% of Earth's people use herbal medicine as their primary method of health care (that percentage is just much lower in the U.S. and other highly industrialized countries). Meuninck talks with other nutritionists at the Merz Apothecary in Chicago and herbal farms in Oregon, as well as authors James and Phyllis Balch (Prescription for Nutritional Healing), and touches on some 100 plants, ranging from the immune system boosting Shizandra to the air filtering Mother-in-law's tongue. Meuninck includes several recipes and suggestions for the use of many standards too, such as garlic, green tea, barley grass, wild burdock, and vitamins A, C, and E. There's something here to pique just about anyone's interest. Highly recommended. (See CONVERSATION WITH MAGIC for availability.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
