Beverages are the single largest source of calories in the American diet, accounting for as much as 20 percent of the total. Presenting an updated, more specifically targeted version of Obesity in a Bottle: Understanding Liquid Calories & Nutrition (see VL-3/07), this title consists of five standalone segments running 3 to 4 minutes (including a brief introduction) featuring registered dietician Susan Moores in a kitchen, delivering highly practical information in a friendly fashion, accompanied by clear visuals. Although some sections overlap in content, each one covers a specific topic: an overview of choosing healthy beverages, including why they're important for our bodies (they aid in digestion, help remove waste, lubricate muscles and joints, and regulate body temperature); the best beverage choices for kids; deciding what to drink if you're watching your weight (including information on alcoholic options); general guidelines for hydration and sports; and making good decisions about caffeine. Straightforward and informative, this is recommended. Aud: J, H, P. (E. Gieschen)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
