Created by three educational psychologists, this terrific series gives parents the tools they need to create a home environment that fosters learning and academic success. Volume one, Preparing Your Child to Succeed, teaches parents how to set up a “school smart” home by making sure children get proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep, as well as providing suggestions for communication and building self-confidence. Volume two, Encouraging Positive Behavior, helps parents learn to give polite requests, firm directions, and employ natural and logical non-violent disciplinary measures. Volume three, Reinforcing Your Child's Academic Skills, suggests effective ways for parents to be supportive in helping children with their homework. Presenting various topics using realistic scenarios and vignettes, each tape also comes with a summary pamphlet and group discussion guide. Many parents are wringing their hands in frustration, wanting to help their children succeed, but not knowing where to start. This series, available in either elementary or middle-school versions, would be a great place to begin. Highly recommended as a parent resource in elementary, middle school and public libraries. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
