A CDL, or commercial driver's license, is required in a number of driving scenarios: if the vehicle carries a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,000 pounds; if a trailer being hauled weighs more than 10,000 pounds; if the vehicle is carrying hazardous waste; or if the vehicle can carry 16 or more people. Intended as a companion to the book Pass the CDL Exam: Everything You Need to Know by Van O'Neal and Alice Adams, this instructional guide summarizes each of the classes of CDL's available, discusses the seven tests a driver may need to pass (general, combination, air brakes, passenger, tanker, double, or triple [the last two refer to the number of trailers one can haul]), and details the three skill tests required for a license (a pre-trip inspection, a basic control skills test, and a road test). While the program is, of course, not intended to teach viewers how to drive big rigs (driving skills are assumed), the tape does cover--in considerable detail--what is expected on all of these tests, ultimately helping prospective exam takers to develop a mental checklist of what they'll need to perform for the inspectors. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
