On the heels of the excellent Perfect Bread: How to Conquer Bread Baking (Editor's Choice in the June, 1991 issue) comes another winner from Betsy Oppenneer, the "Pied Piper" of breadmakers. This time the focus is not on making bread, but rather shaping it. In the 30 time-coded segments (which are indexed on the back of the attractive cover), viewers will learn how to make some of the basic shapes, such as hamburger and hotdog buns, breadsticks, and dinner rolls. They'll also learn some exotic, more creative, bread shapes, such as pretzels, shamrock rolls, braided wreaths, eight-stranded braids, and a cinnamon roll Christmas tree. Breads, buns, rolls, and twists, some perfect for the holidays, others useful all year round. The video and audio qualities are excellent, and Oppenneer is a very good instructor. Libraries who own the first tape will want this one too. Libraries who don't own the first tape will want both. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
