"Mother Nature's Studio," the first part in this 4-tape series deals with ‘people shots'--capturing the right expressions, the right backgrounds, the right mixture of colors--that make children and adults the focus of your perfect picture. Entertaining and easy-to-follow, the remaining tapes examine landscape, animal and travel photography. On the minus side, the program did not take time to look inside the workings of cameras; there are still many people out there who don't know an aperture from an f-stop and the producers could have taken a few minutes to present a computerized ‘tour' inside typical cameras. Still, that's hardly enough to keep any library from purchasing this series since the interest in photography shows no signs of diminishing, and the producers emphasize that great pictures can be taken with just about any type of camera, something which pleases the ‘point-and-shoot' mentality of yours truly. Recommended. Libraries should also consider the highly recommended Weekend Photo Workshop (VL-9/96). Aud: H, C, P. (J. Carlson)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
