Better than either Managing PMS (reviewed in our July-August 1992 issue) or PMS: An Answer (reviewed in our July-August 1990 issue), PMS: It's Not In Your Head interviews health care professionals and PMS sufferers to get both the medical and personal sides of this debilitating syndrome. PMS, or "pre-menstrual syndrome" refers to a constellation of symptoms that usually occur between 2-14 days prior to the sufferer's menstrual cycle. Although it's estimated that only 5-10% have symptoms severe enough to seriously affect their lifestyles, a host of others are still afflicted by the characteristic mood swings, insomnia, food cravings, and headaches common to many with PMS. The program discusses proper diagnosis, and looks at a variety of treatments, including diet changes, effective drugs, and exercise. Not as slick as the earlier reviewed PMS tapes, PMS: It's Not In Your Head excels in the area of straight talk from knowledgeable physicians, researchers, and those who've had to cope with the syndrome. And, for all you English buffs, effective immediately "PMS" is now being used as a verb as well as a noun, as in "I must be PMS-ing." Recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
