Part 4 of a 6-volume series called Science in Action, this video provides a short introduction to the three main types of pollution. Each segment is approximately 5-6 minutes long, covering air, water, and noise pollution. Using varied live-action footage, computer graphics, and an easygoing host, the types and effects of pollution are explained, and strategies to combat its spread are mentioned. Some related concepts, such as decibel levels, or the water cycle are also discussed, but there are also terms introduced without context or background information. This video may be too basic for classrooms; however, as a solid introduction to the topic of environmental awareness, it is recommended, with reservations. Other titles in the series include: Color and Light, Lenses and Mirrors, Solar Energy, Rocks and Minerals, and Pieces of the Past. Aud: I, J, P. (E. Gieschen)
