A valuable video for those legions of job seekers preparing for job interviews, this program looks at several different styles of interviews and describes methods for handling each. Besides advocating the virtues of honesty, punctuality, appropriate dress, etc., the video describes how to deal with the currently popular "non-job related" questions such as "How many gas stations are there in America?" With these types of odd queries, interviewers are trying to assess a candidate's problem-solving abilities and capacity for functioning under pressure. In addition to offering suggestions on how to respond to these surprise questions, the video also includes commentary from human resources personnel who provide invaluable advice not only on how to behave in an interview but also on the expectations of the person conducting the interview. Recommended. A companion video, Strategies for the Interviewer, is also available, either separately for $79 or together with this tape for $149. Aud: H, C, P. (S. Fisher)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
