Sandra Betzina, author of the book "Power Sewing", is the guide to this cornucopia of sewing tips. Not for absolute beginners, Betzina gives a good overview of fabric and pattern compatibility, and then delves straight into the toughies: fly front zippers; reverse curve, square corner, and yoked seams; mitering; correct needle choices for no-pucker seamwork; sleeve easing; shoulderpad placement; sleeve and neckline plackets; lapels; jacket lining; and changing the grainline to match your figure. Each section is color-coded for easy access during playback. Betzina is thorough in her approach, and the camerawork is always in close-up when she's on the machine. This is a solid two hours of excellent instruction. Recommended. (Available from: Power Sewing, P.O. Box 2702, San Francisco, CA 94126.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
