Professor Darryl Morrison jumps right into the lessons here without much of an introduction, demonstrating defenses against chokes, grabs, headlocks, weapons, and hugs, before moving on to kicks, punches, and pushes. The trouble is, Professor Morrison is a big, strong guy without too much in common with a little old lady, who would more likely be the victim of an attack. Many of the moves require a good amount of strength (such as pushing off an attacker sitting on top of you), and arthritic seniors could have trouble using their hands and wrists to pry away an attacker's fingers, as Morrison suggests they do. The lessons themselves take place in front of the same curtain for two hours, without variation of setting (or presentation), and without any tips or tricks for remembering anything. Although this video covers a lot of ground, much of it is NOT for seniors, which is too bad. Not a necessary purchase. Aud: P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
