Preparing The College Application Package

A carefully prepared college application can mean entrance into one of the great universities; while a poorly prepared application can mean denial. This program, produced by Lovejoy, the leader in college guides, interviews the Deans of Admission at some of our top colleges: Yale, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Rutgers, West Point, etc. The deans offer practical advice to high school students about taking honor courses, the importance of recommendations, writing the personal essay, etc. Some major myths are debunked: the importance of S.A.T. scores are greatly exaggerated, for example. This is a good overview of the ways students can get the most out of their applications from the experts in the field. It would be extremely helpful to junior high students as a guide to planning their high school curriculum. Especially in its assurance that the nature of the high school which the applicant attends is not important; but how the student performs within that environment is. Recommended.
