Suicide is on the rise for kids 15 to 19, and is the third leading cause of death among young Americans aged 15 to 24. But the experts in this videotaped talking-head panel discussion suggest that it's preventable in many cases. Viewers will hear a lot of good information presented here on recognizing warning signs, prevention, intervention, and how schools should handle the issue of suicide. More details on how to create a local suicide prevention program would have been welcome and the tape could have been considerably trimmed (the bane of panel discussions is that the listener gets both the wheat and the chaff, so to speak). Otherwise, this tape is recommended for middle and high school counselors, and its reasonable price makes it attractive for public library collections as well. Aud: P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
