Lorne Greene is the host for this one-hour guide to America's 49th state. After a brief introduction to Alaska's history and present-day features, viewers are taken on a tour which starts up the Southeast Alaskan coast, stopping off in Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, and Skagway, then up to Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula, and completing the tour with Fairbanks, Nome, and Kotzabu. The second part of the tape has travel tips on ways to get there, modes of transportation in Alaska, and detailed weather information to aid in choosing your wardrobe. The final section covers accommodations, with still photographs of hotels shown, accompanied by toll-free numbers. The program ends with a listing of sources for more information. Of all the programs we watched, this seemed to best meet the criteria for a quality travel tape. Highly recommended. Other titles in the series are: Colorado Ski Resorts, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Mexico's Beach Resorts, Ski New England, Central Florida, New York, and San Francisco. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
