Michael Tucker of LA. Law is the host of this well meaning P.S.A. for the library. Although some attention is given to the benefits of reading aloud to children (and, of course, the library is cited as the main place for the materials), too much of this short program is given over to shots of either children reading aloud or parents reading to children. While very nice to look at and listen to, Read Aloud Now! simply doesn't offer much in the way of actual guidance for parents (for whom the program is apparently intended). And surprisingly, there isn't even a mention of such classics in the field as Jim Trelease's Read Aloud Handbook where parents could go for more in formation. Not a necessary purchase. (See PEOPLE FIRST for availability.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
