Realistic Colored Pencil Textures

Colored pencils are convenient and relatively inexpensive materials which have the advantage of working well with other art media. This tape shows how to create real and illusory textures by combining colored pencil with gesso, blending pens, oil pastels and watercolors. The result provides a richness of depth and detail that would surprise many people (even artists) who think of the humble colored pencil as elementary school tools. Sandra McFall Angelo and David Dooley demonstrate how to create textures of wood, glass, water, satin, skin, and fur. As in Color Theory Made Really Easy (VL-5/96), the artistic examples are varied and enjoyable. Because there are so many texture methods covered here, only a short time is spent on any one technique, but video allows viewers to go over a portion repeatedly until they understand and can apply the principles to their own work.
