Shaved-head female host Xina Sy—speaker, and creator and founder of self-help company Women's Empowerment, Inc.—serves up inspiration and tips on self-improvement in this motivational program that also features a workout. Looking at the list of New Year's resolutions (inevitably unfulfilled) that nearly all of us make, Sy interviews a variety of women, while offering helpful suggestions on keeping those resolutions (break your big goals down into more easily attainable chunks instead of going cold turkey, incorporate favorite activities into your plan, don't forget to reward yourself, etc.). Next, Sy leads a 20-minute exercise routine featuring a stretch, warm-up, core workout (comprised of marching, curls, lifts, and kicks), and cool-down. Breaking a sweat and huffing “there you go!”, Sy is an unconventional but optimistic host/instructor, and while there are a few production flaws here (awkward cuts, a visible camera in the shot), overall the positive can-do message here could inspire viewers to revive, remake, and ultimately realize those personal goals. A strong optional purchase. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
